My Story

I consider myself a transplant-local of Colorado as I moved here over 15 years ago from Texas! I am fortunate to hold several roles in life that are so important to me. I am a mother, wife, friend, and counselor!

I began my journey to becoming a therapist in an unusual place: an animal hospital. I have always loved all critters, so I began working at the animal hospital to be close to the creatures that bring me joy. I expected to learn about different pets and snuggle kittens all day; what I did not expect was the vast amount of grief I would witness and feel connected to. As anyone who has loved an animal knows, our time with them is usually more limited than we would like. For me, this inevitability sometimes meant that a family’s last goodbyes with a beloved pet would happen right in front of me. I found myself in a position to provide support and comfort, as much as possible, during what were clearly painful experiences for these families. I felt unbelievably honored to have been there for someone during a difficult time and truly connected to the impactful nature of supportive/loving relationships in our lives (between human or with furry family members). These moments provided clarity for me that counseling is my purpose and my passion!

I received my Bachelor of Science from Colorado State University and my Masters in Couples and Family Counseling from the University of Northern Colorado. I have experience supporting families dealing with the impact of trauma, teens and kids navigating school and family challenges, and brave individuals of all walks of life seeking support. I am passionate about couples therapy and have been fortunate to work with couples looking to strengthen relationships, rebuild trust after infidelity, and reconnect by increasing physical and emotional intimacy. I consider the therapeutic relationship special and important. I am honored to work with each unique client and system, as I learn so much from every interaction and always leave sessions feeling more connected to the human experience.

My Style

I believe that people strive to find connection and meaning in life. These pursuits require vulnerability, and that is just plain hard sometimes! My experiences both as a human and as counselor have taught me that our close relationships can be our biggest strengths and sources of comfort. Therapy, then, can be a perfect venue to build and strengthen those relationships, if we lean into the process. I operate with the understanding that everyone fills roles in life (mother, friend, husband, employee, sister etc.) and their behavior in these roles is directly related to their needs and experiences in the relationships they engage in. Because of this, I utilize a systemic approach to support the overall function for all parties involved.

As a counselor, your goals are my goals. I believe that every person, family, and couple is unique. My job is to meet my clients where they are on their journeys and facilitate supportive conversations and experiences to help them reach their goals.
