My story
My fascination with people and attention to the wide array of human experiences and emotions has been alive in me for as long as I can remember. I believe in the resiliency and magic of the human spirit. I feel honored to be able to walk with individuals and couples as they find their way towards growth and healing.
My training began at the University of Colorado, Boulder where I graduated with a degree in English Literature and Sociology. I continued my education by earning a Master in Social Work from Columbia University on the clinical track. In New York City, my passion for social justice was solidified as I worked with youth in the Juvenile Justice Program of The Legal Aid Society in the South Bronx. In order to deepen my clinical skills, I also worked at a Structural Family Therapy center in Brooklyn. More recently, I completed the post graduate Marriage and Family Therapy program at the Denver Family Institute (DFI). This experiential and in depth program allowed me the opportunity to broaden and hone my skills as a Couples and Family Therapist through classes, intensive supervision, live observation, and working with a diverse client group.
In my personal life, my partner and I have been together for over 15 years and have three elementary aged children. We live in Denver along with our two cats, two dogs, and foster puppies. My family is my greatest joy and has been an instrumental teacher that has helped me to witness and experience the healing nature of relationships created with intention and care.
My Approach
I draw from a wide array of modalities and interventions. Most often, I use attachment theory, narrative therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Emotionally Focused Therapy. During my studies at DFI, I completed the Queer Youth Program, a specialized series of classes that are strengths- based and affirming, providing me with in-depth skills in working with queer youth and their families. I am currently taking a six month workshop on Carl Jung and Depth Psychology and I am enjoying bringing that lens to my work. Ultimately, I believe in the healing power of the human spirit, especially within the safe container of relational therapy. I believe change can happen through increasing awareness of thought and behavior patterns, understanding some of the core emotions beneath these patterns, and helping clients to have a new felt experience.
